The WITS Hispanic Film Festival

This Johannesburg event isn’t just for film students. Treat yourself to a few of the Hispanic community’s best movies and enjoy an enriching talk on Chile, its culture, tourism and its current cinema panorama thereafter. The event takes place on the 26th of August at 16:00 – 19:00 at the WITS University East Campus, Seminar Room, Humanities Graduate Centre, Southwest Engineering Building. Entrance is free!

No Rules Cafeteria

It’s the latest pop-up dining experience in Jozi and is a must for all foodies! Expect a three-course experimental dinner menu paired with incredible craft beers and rum cocktails. There’ll also be plenty of live music, an awe-inspiring art exhibition, wake-me-up artisanal coffee and more! Find the pop-up at 87 De Korte Street (Dassler’s) from 12:00 – 17:00 on August 31st. Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival 2019

This epic festival dives deep into the opportunities available for African artists working in the culture, creativity and technology sectors. The main focus will be on screen-based digital creativity, digital art, animation, virtual reality and video game spaces. Be there from the 30th of August – 8th of September at 41 Juta Street. Ticket prices are still to be announced.

South African Book Fair 2019

All dedicated bookworms unite at the South African Book Fair 2019 in celebration of National Book Week. Expect to enjoy watching well-known local writers engage in discussions and debates on current issues, politics, publishing, African superheroes, literature, African philosophy and more. The fair happens from the 6th of September – 8th of September at Constitution Hill (11 Kotze Street) and there will be ample opportunity to get your hands on a few well-priced books, both used and second-hand. Get your weekend pass for just R150.
