Do you feel as though you have been hibernating in your digz all winter long? You’re not alone! Thankfully, the winter chill has been almost completely replaced with the fresh smell of flowers. It also has the unmistakable tepid air of spring… which means it’s time to get those digz back in order with some spring cleaning – ASAP! After all, who wants to be cleaning indoors when summer is in full swing outside? Here are a handful of tips that we’re sure you’re going to find useful over the upcoming weeks.
Get Rid of Clutter
Nothing can leave you feeling more suffocated than clutter in the form of old text books, CDs, clothes and video games that you no longer have any use for. Before you even get to the cleaning part, sort through all of your stuff and place everything into one of three categories: ‘to keep’, ‘to throw away’, ‘to sell’. Now’s your chance to make a bit of extra cash in the process!
Use What You Have
Let’s face it: cleaning products are pricey! The good news is that you can get your digz looking spick and span without having to spend a cent. Just take a look in your kitchen cupboards. If you have vinegar, salt, lemon juice and baking soda on hand, you’re pretty much sorted. You can make a variety of cleaning concoctions using these ingredients which can be used to clean anything from bathroom sinks and mirrors to tiles and even drains! Check out how to do so here:
Get Down to Business
The only way to get your spring cleaning done is to actually set aside the time in order to do it. Take the entire day to work your way around your digz, and make an effort to do it all – from vacuuming to dusting and everything else that you have been avoiding up until now. Just make sure that you don’t feel the need to rush… and don’t allow yourself to take any shortcuts!
Perhaps make life easier for yourself by inviting a few mates around, roping them in to help and rewarding them with a couple of beers and a movie afterwards? You could even hand off some of the clutter to your mates – as they say, “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure”. Just be ready to return the favour!
