bridging the gyp love and moneuLet’s be frank, even if only with ourselves. You need money to survive. The food you eat, the clothes you wear and even the water you drink most likely costs money. As an adult, you need to work at being responsible. That includes paying your bills. Including accommodation, entertainment, living expenses and sparing something for those in need. It goes without saying that money is the currency of the world, but so is love, kindness and talent. Here’s what to consider when looking for career counselling tips. Opting for a career that you love and one that will make you money.

Money matters

The tendency is for peeps to choose a career that makes money. Scarce skills jobs that offer lucrative financial gains are often promoted. After all, who wants to be poor or average, when there are careers that make tons of money? Young people lured into the dreams of running a company. Owning a company, being a big shot that owns private jets and the works. The house of popular culture is all about the money. But it doesn’t go on to share the misconceptions about entrepreneurship . Or even on breaking new grounds.

Heart matters

Those in the know argue that money will not give you job satisfaction. Money alone will not give you that drive to wake up every morning. At the end of the day, you need to choose a job that you also love. Loving your job can lead to greater job satisfaction. Pursuing your innate talents and something that you love may lead to more fulfilment. What if you didn’t have to choose? What if it was possible to do that which you loved and did it so well, that the money was bound to follow you?

Whatever you do, try to spot a niche, specialise and go so much deeper. Don’t stop with a certificate, go beyond the degree, by doing your postgraduate studies. Volunteer your time, put in the extra hours; it won’t be long before you’re recognized for your hard work. And the work that you love.

And maybe, just maybe, you can have it all.
