Jozi is a city that is extremely rich in personality, diversity and culture. But did you know that it has been around since 1886? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to discover more about the history of South Africa’s social hub, and take a peek into one of its most admired social institutions, namely the infamous Rand Club?

If this sounds like a treat to you, you should definitely consider attending the Rand Club’s Walking Heritage Tour.

The much-anticipated event is set to take place on Saturday, the 10th of March at 14:00 sharp and will end at around 16:00.

What can you expect from this exciting Johannesburg history tour? According to all of the press so far, the time will be split between exploring both the history and architecture of the exclusive club, as well as its surrounding neighbourhood.

We hear you – why would you care about exploring an elitist club, right? Well, it’s not just any club. The Rand Club has been around almost as long as Johannesburg itself, and it’s quite a sight to behold both inside and outside its walls! Known for being a ‘home away from home’ for all sorts of people (get the posh, Great Gatsby stereotype out of your head!), including creatives, entrepreneurs, professionals and eccentrics, it has plenty to offer when it comes to tantalising all of your senses. The club also boasts a variety of Jo’burg must-sees in the form of wall art, historical trinkets, Edwardian architecture and more.

The Rand Club is the perfect mish-mash of old and new, considering that it went through a bit of a refurbishment in 2006 after a vicious fire ravaged its way through the original clubhouse in the mid 00s. Interested now? You should be!
