Any true Braamie will have heard of the infamous Neighbourgoods Market. It’s where you go to enjoy a day out with friends or family, get your hands on some glorious grub and perhaps spend a few bucks on some awesome vintage jewellery or a brand new statement outfit.
If you have yet to treat yourself to a visit to this celebrated market, here are a few more reasons to add it to your itinerary.
6 Years & Still Going Strong
The fact that the market has been in operation for 6 years now, tells its own story. It originally opened its doors in 2011 and has lured visitors from all over Jozi and beyond ever since.
The Neighbourgoods Market is best known for its selection of culinary delights from every corner of the globe. Whether you are craving something spicy from Mexico or a classic Italian pasta, you’ll be finding something tantalising at any one of the food stalls at which you choose to stop.
For those who prefer something with which to whet the palate, there’s plenty of creative craft beer to be enjoyed too! Oh and don’t forget to stock up on biltong – many will agree that some of the country’s finest is sold right here.
Where and What to Expect
The market can be found at 73 Juta Street and is housed within a memorable building that is well known for its artistic concrete façade (by Edoardo Villa). The market is on two levels – the basement and the rooftop… where you can enjoy some of the most stunning views in all of Jozi! Be sure to spend some time in the infamous ‘Chill Out Zone’ while you’re there.
Remember, the market opens every Saturday from 09h00 to 15h00. Will we be seeing you there?
The Neighbourgoods Market is a favourite community hangout and a great spot for some local networking. Get out and about in Braamfontein.
