Who doesn’t love a tasty, hearty breakfast? As we all know, breakfast is the most important (and cheapest) meal of the day. So why eat any other meal at all? Have breakfast for lunch and dinner, too! Here are three reasons why we think it’s such a brilliant idea.
We’ve already mentioned that. But in trying to survive #studentlife on a tight budget, this fact cannot be emphasised enough! Most breakfast foods are a lot more affordable than the other types of food that we tend to eat later on in the day. Eggs, yoghurt, bagels, bacon – it’s all much cheaper than steak, chicken and pork. Plus, that means you can eat more of it, too. It’s an excuse to chow down guilt-free!
Ok, so if you’re on a diet, this probably isn’t a good thing. But if you’re not, this is the best part! Fried egg on toast, avocado on toast, jam on toast, French toast. The list goes on and on. You’ll certainly never be low on energy.
It’s Quick and Easy
What student has time to slave away over the stove for hours on end? You’ve got lectures and jols to get to and you need to satisfy those hunger pains fast. Most breakfast meals won’t take more than 15 minutes to prepare, and some can be done in under five minutes if necessary.
One of our fave recipes is the flourless, 3 ingredient banana pancakes. They’ll take you just 10 minutes to make and are mouth-wateringly delicious.
You’ll need just a half a cup of oats, 1 peeled banana and 3 and a half tablespoons of full cream milk. Simply combine all ingredients in a blender, grease the frying pan well and get cooking. Top off with golden syrup or cinnamon for a bit of extra flavour. Practice makes perfect!
