There are times when we become so weighed down by everything we have to do and be that we forget that life is about following our bliss. Happiness isn’t meant to be a destination that we arrive at once we’ve dealt with everything else – it should be part of our daily journey, regardless of what else is going on.
Even if you’re still not sure what your ultimate bliss might be or you’re busy working towards it, there are plenty of ways to be happier in just a few minutes. Try some of these:
Genuine laughter raises our vibration and makes us feel lighter and happier, as well as boosting our immune system and relaxing us. So watch a funny movie, Google some jokes or funny autocorrects or watch kittens or puppies play. Even if you really don’t feel like it, pretending to laugh will soon have you laughing for real, especially if you do it with a couple of friends.
Use your senses to notice the small things that uplift you.
Take a moment to stop and admire something beautiful, perhaps a sunset, a garden or a work of art. Run your fingers through a stream of water or over a soft piece of fabric. Breathe in the scent of an old-fashioned rose. Relish the taste of coffee and freshly-baked muffins. Listen to an uplifting piece of music.
What you focus on is what you get.
The old saying ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ may be a cliché but it’s true. Obviously when we encounter challenges we can’t just pretend they aren’t happening. However if we can find something positive either about that situation or about something else in our life, it really helps to keep us inspired in dealing with the challenge. It’s a simple equation: if you focus on the negative, you get more of the negative; if you focus on the positive, you get more of the positive.
The effects of these last much longer than it takes to actually do them. It’s an investment of time and energy that’s well worth the effort. Pick one when you’re feeling in need of a boost and enjoy the good vibrations!
