Making money out of your creativity and passion

By January 9, 2017 No Comments

Too much month at the end of your money? As a student, counting those cents and strictly watching your spending goes with the territory. But what if we told you that it is entirely possible to earn some extra dough without doing anything differently whatsoever? If you’re creative and spend a sizeable chunk of your time working on your hobby… it’s time to get really creative and start making some money off of what you do best.

Here are just a couple of our thoughts and ideas on how to benefit from your passion, but you’re the creative one – be inspired:

Baking

If you can whip up the yummiest cupcakes or the most mouth-watering pies, rest assured that you will be able to rake in the cash without even trying! Students are always hungry (as one yourself, you probably know this already… and all too well!) and, for the right price, will be happy to take a few of your delicious baked goods off of your hands.

If you notice that the demand is growing, why not start a baking club with a few of your friends to make even more delicacies… and even more cash!

Knitting and Macrame

Knitting and Macrame are relaxing pastimes that can help you to chill out after a demanding lecture or study session. It can also be a great way to make some money. Why not take orders from the other students in res?

You could perhaps knit a few stylish scarves or make a couple of macrame pot plant hangers or even bracelets, and see how people respond to them. From there, you will be able to assess the level of interest in the items that you will be able to create.

Music

If you have the voice of an angel or some mad guitar skills, give people the gift of music. If playing outside res for a few tips isn’t really your thing, why not see if you can land a gig at the local pub? Or, better yet, chat to your other musically inclined friends and start a band? Regardless of what you do to take your music hobby to the next level, you’ll never know if it’s possible unless you try!

Whatever creative talent you have, you really should be putting it to good use. Who knows? With the help of your unique, stand-out skills, you just might have a workable idea for starting your very own business!
