You were likely in your pre-teen or early teenage years during the 00s, but no doubt tried out a number of some of the often cringe worthy fashion trends for yourself! Let’s take a trip down memory lane and relive some of this decade’s most embarrassing fashion moments. How many were YOU guilty of?
Ed Hardy T-Shirts and belts
Remember when Ed Hardy brand name T-shirts and slinky belts were cool? Pretty much everyone had one back in the day. Now they’re slightly less cool and considerably more tacky. Do you still have yours hidden in the back of your closet? We won’t tell anyone 😉
Those pants that sort of migrated halfway up your calf but couldn’t quite make it to the knee? Yup, those. No idea how they got so popular considering that you had to be about 2 meters tall before they would look remotely flattering on you. Nevertheless, it would seem that every single one of the hottest celebs hopped on the bandwagon of this awful trend.
Denim on Denim
Even Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake couldn’t pull this one off (do you re-call their matching denim outfits where every item of clothing was the same shade of denim?). The rest of us really shouldn’t have even bothered trying!
Fedoras were those hats made out of soft felt with a curled brim that countless hip hop ladies donned in their music videos of this time. Bruno Mars still makes them look cool. But he’s a big exception. For everyone’s own good, let’s hope this fad doesn’t make a comeback anytime soon!
Think of that tacky headgear that stereotypical American truckers tend to wear in movies. Yes, indeedy. That’s what this trend was based on… and we can thank (or blame) Paris Hilton for making these unflattering hats so fashionable. Luckily, by the time most of us got our hands on one of our very own, the trend was already dead. Thank goodness for that!
Needless to say, the 00s was a decade full of eccentric outfits and fashion statements… but we’re pretty sure that it won’t be going down in the books as one the most fashionable decades ever. At least it was better than the 80s, right?
