Got a hankering for something you can really sink your teeth into this evening? This Braamies Smokehouse and Grill is where it’s at! This carnivore’s paradise is quickly becoming a popular student hotspot… and here’s why.
It’s Close to Campus
Located at 73 Juta Street, it’s literally 500 meters away from the Wits Main Campus and only 2.8km away from UJ. It’s the perfect place to stop if you’re craving something meaty in between classes or before getting stuck into some serious studying!
Needless to say, the menu is the main reason why regular patrons of the Smokehouse and Grill keep coming back for more. Not only is it quite extensive, but it also promises flavour and value for money that very few other Braamies hangouts are able to match.
Choose from a range of mouth-watering starters to whet your appetite (Jalapeno poppers, nachos, spicy chicken wings), and an array of healthy salads if you fancy something light (The Braamies Nicoise is the one everyone is raving about). There are always plenty of the old meaty favourites including steak, oxtail, baby chicken and kingklip, and, of course, a myriad of ribs, carnivore-friendly sandwiches and burgers.
They Serve Craft Beer
Craft beer forms part of practically every student’s diet nowadays, so it helps when a restaurant has taken the time to source a few creative, soon-to-be favourites for you to sample. You can get your hands on Jack Black, Citizen Alliance and Devil’s Peak, to name a few, at the Smokehouse and Grill. There’s also plenty of tasty cocktails available for the ladies, from Cosmopolitans to Blue Lagoons and everything in between.
The Atmosphere is Awesome
Think woody accents and a generally chilled out vibe. Plus, there are plenty of big screen TVs scattered around the establishment for those who want to watch an important game while munching on some southern-style BBQ delicacies.
The good news is that the prices are quite reasonable. So, plan an evening out with your mates this weekend and check out the Smokehouse and Grill for yourself! Don’t forget to take some pics and post them on the Student Digz Facebook page. We’re dying to hear all about your personal experience.
